10 Best Sights to See Around Seoul and Paju

Seoul is a massive, amazing megacity with lots of fun things to do, sights to see, and delicious foods to eat.

Here's some of my most favorite places to visit around Seoul and its nextdoor neighbor, Paju.

The n Seoul tower

This iconic landmark is a massive communication tower on top of Namsan Mountain.

It's a fun spot to go to becuse you can ride a cable car up to the top of the mountain, then take an elevator up center the tower, to get to the top deck where you can see 360 degree views of the entire city.

Gyeongbokgung palace

There are many beautiful palaces in Seoul, but this one was the largest of all the royal palaces in the Joseon dynasty, as well as the head or government, and the home of the entire royal family.

It's pretty interesting to visit this giant palace because there is so much to see and learn about, plus beautiful sprawling lakes and gardens, and a folk museum at the end where you dive even more into the history and culture.

InsaDong

This is a picture-perfect street in center Seoul full of restaurants, pubs, shops, and street foods.

It's fun to explore because there is just so much to see and do and eat, and you can easily spend hours exploring traditional tea houses, local crafts, and art galleries galore.

Battleship park

Located along the Han river in my favorite area - the Mangwon neighborhood -  are two decomissioned battleships and a submarine.

It is a really fun park to check out because it is all fully interactive so you can explore every nook and cranny of the ships and pretend you're a real sailor out on the open seas.

Dmz

A creepy remnant of the Cold War, the Demilitarized Zone runs along the 38th parallel and splits the North from the South.

Brave travelers can tour the area, visit underground bunkers, see the old trains riddled with bullets, and even peer into the eerie distance at the border line.

Paju book city

Just outside of Seoul, Paju Book City is an industrial complex all about books.

It's a fun stop for book lovers because there's tons of book shops to browse in and a massive library where you can freely read books to your heart's content.

Majang suspension Bridge

The Majang Suspension Bridge in Paju soars across Majang Lake from the forest to an observatory.

This a really fun stop because you can walk across the bridge as it sways in the air and even look down through clear panels to the water beneath your feet.

HEyri artist village

Also in Paju, Heyri Artist Village is a creative cultural community of full of artists, photographers, musicians, and more.

I love this village because you can endlessly meander around unique art galleries, shops, bookstores, cafes, and restaurants.

Byukchoji gardens

The Paju Byukchoji Gardens, or Botanical Garden BCJ, is a sprawling blend of Eastern and Western gardens organized into various themes.

It's a must see for nature lovers because you can easily spend many hours exploring all the gardens and learning about the plants.

ProvEnce village

Paju Provence Village is a chic little French-inspired village full of cute pastel buildings.

It's a unique spot to stop in because there are lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants, plus French-styled gardens and greenhouses to explore.
